Sewing Workshop Overview
This Easter sewing Workshop is part of Future Threads: Sustainable Sewing Series for Young Creatives, you can read more about this initiative below.
Learn how to turn your old jeans into something fresh, fun, and totally yours in this beginner-friendly sewing workshop in Newtown Pastoral Centre in South Dublin. We’ll mix practical sewing skills with trending teen fashion — think Y2K-inspired mini skirts, casual distressed shorts, cottagecore patchwork, or subtle coquette touches like lace and bows.
Bring a pair of jeans (that fit you) and we’ll guide you step-by-step as you upcycle them into a skirt, shorts, or a custom piece with trims, embroidery, or other details. At this creative sewing class you’ll learn how to set up and confidently use a sewing machine, even if it’s your first time sewing.
This sewing workshop is relaxed and creative, with all tools and materials provided (just bring jeans that fit, as we won’t adjust waist sizes). We’ll even take a break for hot chocolate and marshmallows to keep energy levels up.
If you love it, join our follow-up beginner or intermediate sewing classes to explore more techniques and make even more fashion-forward pieces.

"I spent a lovely afternoon with Mia of Creative Assemble, learning how to use a sewing machine and creating a tote bag which I am very proud of. Mia created a warm environment and allowed everyone to work at their own pace. I would definitely recommend Mia and hope to do an advanced class in the future."
Allison Emanuel, Learn to Sew Workshop
"I did the 4 hour introductory class with Mia from Creative Assemble. It was so enjoyable. I learnt so much. Everything was organised so well. Mia is a patient teacher and packed so much into the day. She created a lovely atmosphere for all of us. We left delighted with the tote bag we made ! I would highly recommend the course to anyone who wants to start using a sewing machine. Fabulous class."
